A celebration of life for pro snowboarder Jeff Keenan is set for May 17 at the Fairmont in Whistler. Keenan and two others were tragically killed in an avalanche near Nelson on March 24. The celebration of life kicks off at 3 p.m. in the MacDonald ballroom, with an afterparty planned at Merlin's afterwards. "Everyone’s welcome. Please come," wrote Keenan's partner Leanne Pelosi in an Instagram post. "Beyond taken back by the Seymour ride day. It was incredibly hard and incredibly powerful.

As the World Ski and Snowboard Festival prepares to wrap up, so too does another winter season at Whistler Blackcomb. The last day for operations on Whistler Mountain, and for the Peak 2 Peak Gondola, is April 21. As of April 22, spring skiing is available on Blackcomb Mountain only. "Please note that there are variable snow conditions at all elevations," Whistler Blackcomb said in its April 10 operations update.

One of Whistler's favourite charities needs your help. Zero Ceiling, the Whistler-based organization dedicated to ending youth homelessness, is hosting a fundraiser on April 17 at Hunter Gather, with all proceeds going towards supporting Zero Ceiling programming. From 6 to 9 p.m. on April 17, $1 from every meal or drink purchased (eat-in or take-out) will be donated to Zero Ceiling. Attendees can win a two-night stay at the Journeyman Lodge along with other prizes and adventures.
