CHARLOTTESVILLE — One team has been at the top of the 2A rankings all season long, while the other began the year there and has since dropped due to a slow, injury-riddled start to the season. On Friday night, both battled at full strength. FORTVILLE — Entering on a three-game skid and dealing with some injury-related adversity, Greenfield-Central’s softball team got a much-needed, bounce-back win. On the road at Mt. Vernon, the Cougars defeated their Hancock County and Hoosier Heritage Conference rivals, 13-4, without top hitter Savvanna Riall. The win moved GC to 6-5 overall after three straight losses to 3A No. 7 Yorktown, 3A No. 14 Indian Creek and 4A No. 3 Zionsville.
