Seattle Mariners starting pitcher George Kirby left Tuesday's game against the Baltimore Orioles after being hit in the face by a line drive at the end of the top of the fifth inning. Pitching against Ramon Urias, Kirby was hit by a 102.7 mph comebacker. The ball appeared to hit part of his glove, before catching his face. The ball ricocheted to Rowdy Tellez, who got the out at first base, and Kirby left with a bloody lip.

According to Seattle Mariners' manager Dan Wilson, All-Star pitcher Logan Gilbert will make a second rehab start at Triple-A Tacoma on Wednesday. After the outing, the M's will make a decision on what to do with Gilbert, in terms of promoting him back to the big-league roster or making another rehab start. Gilbert threw 45 pitches in his first rehab start, also with the Rainiers.

Kansas City Royals top prospect Jac Caglianone will hit sixth in his major league debut on Tuesday as the Royals take on the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium. More importantly, he will serve as the team's designated hitter. Typically a first baseman, Caglianone will give way to Vinnie Pasquantino, though Caglianone should get time at first and in the outfield while he's in the big leagues.

Congratulations are in order for Seattle Mariners' prospects Cole Young and Harry Ford, who were named as the organization's Co-Hitters of the month for May. The Mariners' Player Development account posted the news on "X." Both Young and Ford spent the majority of May with the Triple-A Tacoma Rainiers, though Young was promoted to the big-league club over the weekend. Young hit .366 for the month with 37 hits, 10 doubles, five home runs, 21 RBIs and 16 walks.
