The Legislature’s General Affairs Committee on Thursday did not advance a bill to carry out a pair of ballot initiatives passed by Nebraska voters last fall to legalize and regulate cannabis for medical use. The widely watched vote on Sen. Ben Hansen’s bill (LB677) to implement the language of Initiative 437 and Initiative 438 failed in committee along party lines 3-5 in the officially nonpartisan Legislature. The Blair lawmaker’s bill is not dead for the session, however.
