The City of Saskatoon is beefing up security under the University Bridge after a fire at a homeless camp damaged a sewer line and resulted in a multi-day closure of the South Saskatchewan River crossing. Terry Schmidt, the city’s general manager of transportation and construction, told city council on Wednesday that a site inspection was completed this week to determine how to restrict access to the bridge’s arches and piers.

The man behind the garden centre business, Arie Van Duyvendyk, died peacefully on December 6, surrounded by his six children at Diamond House in Warman. He was 94.

A piece of Canadian history will be landing in Saskatoon today. A Lancaster Bomber, on route from Hamilton to Cold Lake, will make a short pit stop at the Saskatchewan Aviation Museum allowing the public an opportunity to get up close and personal with the Second World War aircraft. The Lancaster Bombers were key a element to the Allies Victory in WWII. Almost 7,400 were built and flown by squadrons from Britain, Canada and other Commonwealth nations. Of these, 430 were built in Canada.
