Saskatchewan offers to send a crew and equipment to help battle California wildfires

Saskatchewan is joining the effort to contain the out-of-control wildfires in southern California. Answering a request for help from the Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Centre on Tuesday, the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency (SPSA) has offered to send a crew and equipment to battle wildfires that have scorched thousands of homes and killed at least 24 people.

A teen girl who allegedly set her classmate on fire is set to make a plea at Saskatoon Provincial Court next month. On Sept. 5, a 15-year-old girl was doused in a flammable substance and lit on fire at Evan Hardy Collegiate. A 14-year-old girl has been charged with attempted murder, arson and aggravated assault. She's also been charged with unlawfully causing bodily harm, related to a teacher who was injured while attempting to put out the flames.

An especially chilly Sunday is forecasted for several regions across Saskatchewan – as extreme cold warnings come into effect. The SPCA held a garage sale Saturday to make use of some its more abundant gently used donations that might go unused. “It’s just trying to clear out some of the stuff. RCMP say Saskatchewan man killed in collision with semi

A 35-year-old man from Saskatoon is dead after RCMP say the car he was driving collided with a semi on Highway 14 Thursday afternoon. Emergency crews were called to the scene of the crash east of Biggar, Sask. around 12:40 p.m. The man, who was the only person in the car was pronounced dead at the scene, an RCMP News release said. The driver of the semi was taken to hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening. Highway 14 near the scene was closed but has been re-opened.

Restaurant Manager George Kosmas tells CTV the restaurant will continue to operate until February 22.
