The Central Ohio Transit Authority is looking into the idea of eliminating fares on its buses. Earlier this week, the agency’s board approved spending up to $320,000 on a “No-Fare Feasibility Study,” to be performed by a California-based company called Four Nines Technologies.

The Downtown Commission will soon get a chance to weigh in on the design of a proposed development on the former Spaghetti Warehouse site. The board approved the demolition of the large brick building that held the restaurant for over 40 years in October, and the structure was taken down in February. The latest plan for the site, which was submitted to the city in advance of the commission meeting on April 22, calls for two seven-story buildings that would hold a total of 250 apartments.

The Bob Crane Community Center opened this weekend in Upper Arlington, a little under two years after the groundbreaking ceremony for the $85 million building. Spread over the five floors (plus a mezzanine) is an indoor pool, senior lounge, art gallery, event center and multiple gyms and fitness rooms.

Advocates are sounding the alarm after Ohio House Republicans yesterday revealed an updated budget proposal that does not include the small amount of funding requested to support passenger rail in the state. All Aboard Ohio sent out an email yesterday evening calling the proposal “a major step backward for Ohio’s passenger rail future,” and directed readers to contact their legislators.

A new redevelopment plan for the northeast corner of Lane Avenue and High Street will be heard by the University Impact District Review Board (UIDRB) soon. Landmark Properties, the Georgia-based developer behind a series of proposals for the corner in 2021 and 2022, recently submitted the new plans to the city, calling for a 16-story tower on a smaller footprint than before.
