Lexi Thompson wants to set a couple things straight. After missing the cut at the U.S. Women’s Open, Thompson took to social media on Sunday morning to defend her pace of play and maintain that she’s not, in fact, retired. Multiple photos and video clips showed Charley Hull, who was grouped with Thompson and Nelly Korda for the first 36 holes, seemingly frustrated with the slow pace. In one image, Hull was sitting on the ninth tee box at Erin Hills before Thompson finished up her eighth hole.

Amari Avery didn’t realize she didn’t have her clubs until about two hours before her U.S. Women’s Open tee time. That’s when Avery sat in her hotel room in disbelief. She had hurriedly moved out of her Airbnb that morning following an attempted break-in around 2 a.m. Friday.

It’s not a U.S. Open without putts ending up 30 yards off the green. That’s what happened to Esther Henseleit on Saturday at Erin Hills’ 260-yard, par-4 15th hole. Henseleit was even par and six shots off the U.S. Women’s Open lead when she drove the green at No. 15, leaving herself about 55 feet for eagle. However, Henseleit’s eagle putt had to navigate a crest in the green, and when her ball came down the ridge toward the hole, it had way too much pace.
