    A North Las Vegas police officer who was shot dead is being remembered in a public memorial service Thursday. Jason Roscow, a father of two and 17-year veteran of the North Las Vegas Police Department, was killed in a shootout Feb. 4 with a 25-year-old man identified by the Clark County coroner’s office as Alexander Mathis. Roscow, 46, was shot multiple times by Mathis, who had fired five rounds from a Makarov pistol, police said in a news conference Wednesday.

    The North Las Vegas Police Department on Wednesday is expected to release more information about a shootout last week that left officer Jason Roscow dead. Roscow, a 46-year-old father of two young boys whose career with the department spanned 17 years, died at University Medical Center after he was shot multiple times by Alexander Mathis, 25, police said. Despite having suffered several gunshot wounds, Roscow was able to return fire, hitting Mathis, who also died, police said.

    North Las Vegas police have released the name of a second police officer involved in a shooting Tuesday that left officer Jason Roscow and a 25-year-old man dead. Officer Luis Macias-Venegas was identified by the North Las Vegas Police Department in a press release issued Saturday night. The Clark County coroner’s office on Wednesday said Alexander Mathis also died in the shooting.
