Investigators arrested a Barstow woman Wednesday on suspicion of conspiring with an inmate to smuggle drugs into an Adelanto jail, authorities said. Leticia Marie Juarez, 47, of Barstow was arrested about 5 p.m. on suspicion of criminal conspiracy and bringing drugs into a fail facility, according to San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department officials and county booking records. Inmate Brandon James King, 50, of Barstow was expected to face additional charges due to the allegation.

A proposed bill meant to combat child abuse in the entertainment industry that was co-authored by a High Desert lawmaker and is championed by celebrity Paris Hilton was passed by the California Assembly this week.
