The United States and China have agreed to lower the escalating tariff rates on trade, a country from which California imported over $172 billion in goods last year. Chinese imports will face a 30% tariff in total, down from 145% on most goods. The Chinese government agreed to reduce its retaliatory tariffs to 10% from the previously set 125%. The rates, effective for 90 days said USA TODAY, are expected to go into place by May 14.
