After being selected as a "Plan B" backup for the 2026 Winter Olympic Games in Italy, word came down Monday that Lake Placid will not be called upon to host the sliding events. Testing on the brand new track at Cortina Sliding Centre in Italy – held recently – was deemed a success, and the Olympic Committee is confident the track will be ready for competition next year. The committee only recently had that confidence.
