Thomas Ray Crew was arraigned this morning on attempted murder and other charges that could spell a life sentence. It comes a week after he did not appear for his previously scheduled arraignment because he was unexpectedly rushed to the hospital. Now in custody, Crew, 46, pleaded not guilty to charges stemming from a near-fatal May 15 hostage situation in Rancho Mirage. Crew allegedly kidnapped his sister and her child at gunpoint, then shot another woman, 43-year-old Nereira Crew, in the head.

Authorities arrested a woman and sent two men to the hospital after responding yesterday to a rural intersection in Hidden Valley where a group of people had all lost consciousness in a car. Pinal County Sheriff’s Office responded just before noon to the corner of Ralston and Farrell Roads after a concerned citizen saw “a vehicle parked in the road with multiple people passed out,” spokesperson Sam Salzwedel told InMaricopa today.

A cook at a Maricopa Asian fusion restaurant was arrested at gunpoint Saturday after he allegedly threatened to stab his coworker to death. Maricopa Police Department responded to W & Z Asian Bistro, a restaurant on the John Wayne strip, at about 4:30 p.m. on a report that two men were fighting, according to a probable cause statement. The 911 caller reported a man wearing all black was pointing a kitchen knife at an employee.
