PALMER TWP., Pa. — Palmer Township supervisors narrowly voted Monday to increase salaries for the board and subcommittees, but not without a bit of pushback. After no pay raises in about three decades, the board discussed a measure to bump salaries for new, incoming supervisors and committee members,But at least two members were openly opposed to the change.

EASTON, Pa. — Easton City Council was happy to hear local community groups petitioning for Community Development Block Grants this week. But funding, the future of the program in Easton — and across the rest of the Lehigh Valley, as well as the country — remains uncertain. The city is currently operating under the expectation that the normal $1 million CDBG grant will come through, officials said. But they warned that nothing is definite until it does.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Members of Jewish League for Peace-Lehigh Valley will come together Saturday will allies across the region to hold a sunset ritual for Palestine. The organization has announced it will hold a sunset Havdalah ritual, a transition from the rest of Shabbat to the work of liberation, at 7:15 p.m. May 31 in Bethlehem Rose Garden. Havdalah serves as a ritual ceremony that marks the end of the Sabbath and the separation of the sacred and profane, using all the senses in the practice.
