LOUISVILLE, Ky. — In honor of National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, we’re highlighting the work that happens on the other end of your 911 call, with the people you likely never see. His time in the service dates back to the 1960s, when the U.S. was deep into the Vietnam War.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Heath Eskridge just returned home from Antarctica after experiencing the coldest plunge you can imagine. It's part of a personal journey that's taken on a bigger purpose in recent weeks, one he hopes will help kids back home, living with special needs. When Eskridge isn't working in a steel mill, he's volunteering as a firefighter and EMT for both the Hardinsburg and McDaniels communities in rural Breckinridge County.
