Silk Road’s chef has serious chops (20 years in the game, including time at the first the most famous Chinese restaurant in Thailand), and the menu shows it. Think small plates like crystal shrimp dumplings, molten salted egg yolk bao, and tofu skin stuffed with shrimp paste, along with tea service and bigger plates like beef chow fun and crispy noodles.

Operating out of popular dinner spot Jūn—one of our top-rated restaurants in Houston—Third Place runs Monday through Saturday from 8am–3pm as both a daytime café and rotating lunchtime pop-up for local chefs previewing new ideas. First up, a Burmese menu from Burmalicious by Suu, from laphet and crispy duck liver puffs to shwe yin aye, a traditional sweetened rice dessert. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists.

Flying Saucer and Rodeo Goat have teamed up to turn the former Flying Fish space into a late-night spot for burgers and booze. They offer Rodeo Goat menu classics like the jalapeño-loaded Bodacious Burger, plus craft beers, a punny cocktail list with drinks like the “Let That Mango" margarita, and bar snacks like party dip and charcuterie plates from local cheese heroes Houston Dairymaids.
