Construction has finished at 1900 Lawrence St. in Denver. The project adds 720K SF of office space to the city’s Central Business District. Chicago-based real estate firm Riverside is the developer behind the 30-story office tower. Riverside partnered with Convexity Properties and Dallas-based Canyon Partners Real Estate to develop the property beginning in 2022.

Courtesy of Koelbel and Co.Walter A. “Buz” Koelbel Jr., who led one of Colorado's leading local real estate companies for 47 years, died Sept. 19 of blood cancer. He was 72. A third-generation Coloradan, Koelbel joined Koelbel and Co., a firm founded by his father, in 1976 after spending time in property management in San Francisco. He took over as president in 1985 and ran the company, eventually with his sons, until April.
Cherry Creek West Overhaul Advances With City Council Vote

The Denver City Council on Monday unanimously approved a zoning application for an overhaul of Cherry Creek West by developer East West Partners. The 13-acre mixed-used redevelopment is expected to cover about four blocks, from University Boulevard to the Clayton Lane retail property and from First Avenue to Cherry Creek. The project is projected to create about 825 residences, 600K SF of office space, 100K SF of retail, 4 acres of open space and more than 2,000 underground parking spaces.

Colorado School of Mines and Elevate Quantum broke ground Monday on a project that is expected to serve as an incubator for quantum technology. Called Quantum Commons at Arvada, the project is being built on 70 acres at 18300 State Highway 72. Colorado School of Mines bought the land last month for $14M, the Denver Business Journal reported.

LaPour Partners and Mar-Gulf Management Inc. broke ground on Creekside Centennial Tech Center, a 63K SF shallow-bay industrial project. Construction is expected to complete in the first quarter of 2025. A proposal to redevelop land around Ball Arena will go to the Denver City Council. The project is at 6403 S. Uvalda St. and will feature Class-A industrial space for sale or lease.

The Lower Downtown Design Review Commission rejected a plan to renovate the El Chapultepec building and the neighboring home of The Giggling Grizzly at 20th and Market streets. The plan would have preserved the exterior and signage at El Chapultepec, the Denver Business Journal reported, while adding a rooftop gathering space spanning both buildings. But the Lower Downtown Design Review Commission voted down the plans submitted by property owner Monfort Cos. in conjunction with Historic Denver.
