Kieron Nicki Lee Lewis, who was said to have an "absolutely dreadful record", accelerated while at the wheel of a Seat Leon. As police followed he was seen frequently crossing onto the wrong side of the road, in residential areas of Peterlee, on January 20 this year.

    2 1/1 A man who could not accept his ex-partner was seeing someone else carried out his threat to come to her home armed with a knife, a court heard. Glenn Armstrong, who was carrying a large kitchen knife, smashed his way into his ex-partner’s Spennymoor home via a patio door, shortly after 3.30am on January 2 this year. In messaging shortly beforehand, he told his ex-partner he would come around with, "knives, guns and dogs".

    2 1/1 Motorbike couriers, who deliver vital blood and medical supplies to the region’s healthcare facilities, have, themselves, received an important donation. The £1,000 “shot-in-the-arm” from Durham City Freemen, will contribute to the running costs of Northumbrian Blood Bikes’ fleet of a dozen bikes and eight cars. Those vehicles use more than £7,500 worth of fuel per year and face an annual £26,000 insurance bill.
