A TEENAGER has died in a tractor crash that left another teen in hospital this afternoon. The single-vehicle collision took place on the R204 at Aghavilla, Carrigallen, Co Leitrim at around 3.10pm today. A male passenger of the tractor, aged in his late teens, was later pronounced deceased at the scene, gardai said. The male driver of the tractor, also in his late teens, was taken to Cavan General Hospital for treatment of injuries, which are tonight believed to be non-life-threatening.

ONE of Ireland's biggest student events returned to Leopardstown Racecourse for a day of thrilling racing, fashion, and entertainment today. There was a great buzz about south Dublin as the Leopardstown Student Race Day kicked off this afternoon with a full card in the offing. Attendees could also expect DJs and fun games between and after the racing, while fashion scouts were on the lookout for standout outfits on racegoers.

PLANS to make a Dublin street traffic-free from this summer are set to accelerate as two bus routes will be taken off it from this Sunday. Both the 69 and the 69x, which run between Rathcoole, west Dublin to Hawkins Street and turn from Grattan Bridge on to Parliament Street and left on to Dame Street, have been rerouted. From Sunday, April 13, they will instead head along the north quays and cross Rosie Hackett Bridge onto Hawkins Street, terminating at Poolbeg Street.

ENOCH Burke was branded an “unruly schoolboy” by a judge today after the High Court was told that more than €40,000 has been seized from the teacher’s bank accounts. Mr Justice David Nolan also ordered Mr Burke to pay legal costs incurred by Wilson’s Hospital School and the Attorney General in the proceedings, though Mr Burke continually spoke over the judge as he gave his ruling.

A BOY has died after an incident involving a tractor earlier this evening. Gardai and emergency services rushed to the scene of the fatal crash at Beaufort Bridge in Beaufort, Co Kerry after the incident occurred at around 7.30pm. It involved a tractor and a pedestrian, a male juvenile, gardai said. The boy was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to University Hospital Kerry. A post-mortem will take place in due course.
