HIKERS AND HILLWALKERS are being urged to take care this Easter bank holiday, amid an unsettled outlook. It’s an early Easter this year and there are unsettled conditions expected across the weekend, particularly on Sunday. Gerry Christie from Kerry Mountain Rescue is anticipating a rise in hill-walking this bank holiday weekend. The rescue volunteer encouraged people to enjoy their leisure time over Easter but to take precautions where needed.

NEW RESEARCH HAS shown attitudes towards refugees and immigrants in Ireland remain largely positive compared to other European countries and to previous data on attitudes around the subject here. The data from the Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI) think-tank suggests many Irish people continue to view immigration in a favourable light.

BRITAIN’S QUEEN CAMILLA met with leaders of the newly resurrected Northern Irish government during an official visit without King Charles. Camilla has embarked on the two day trip on her own as doctors have recommended Charles suspends public engagements while receiving treatment. Buckingham Palace confirmed back in February that the 75-year-old British king had been diagnosed with cancer.
