Family grieves loss of child killed in road accident

TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) — He was just 7 years-old when he was hit and killed earlier this week trying to cross the street. "It’s hard for me," said Michael Gee, Ty'Shaun's father, who describes his son as joyful. "Apple of my eye, light of my family, the best child you could ever think about, dream about," he said. Ty'Shaun's siblings were with him when it happened. "Upon arrival we learned that a child under the age of 10 was struck by a vehicle," said TPD Sergeant Julie Hopper.
Monte Cassino helps community with huge diaper drive

TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) — Since 2013 Monte Cassino has donated over 302,000 diapers and over 1,500 packages of baby wipes for the youngest poor in Tulsa and Eastern Oklahoma. This year's diaper drive broke a school record with 26,836 diapers and 24 packages of baby wipes. A demonstration of community, that's one way to describe the flurry of activity taking place at Monte Cassino. "So we’re loading these diapers in the car to take them to Catholic Charities," said 7th grader Josie Hull.
Residents weigh in on testing permit for refinery

TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) — It's an event that only happens once every ten years, the permit renewal for hazardous waste disposal facilities at the HF Sinclair Tulsa West Refinery. "So this is a permit that the refinery has to remediate and maintain solid waste management units, so these are different areas of the facility where different hazardous waste are found in the groundwater," said Amy Brittain of Oklahoma Environmental Quality Land Protection Division.

"I wanted the bullying to stop," said parent Candice Fralix. Like any concerned parent Fralix became worried when her third grader, whom we'll call "Mary," began getting bullied not long after enrolling at McClure back in January. "It was due to two particular boys bullying her, just saying negative things to her," she said. The teacher, she says, moved her daughter away from the boys and said she would report it to the principal with what's called a referral.
