The Sudreau Global Justice Institute is an organization based out of Pepperdine’s Caruso School of Law that seeks to end systemic injustice globally and equip students and practicing attorneys to aid in that cause. Beginning in 2009, the SGJI has enjoyed a long-standing memorandum of understanding with the Ugandan Judiciary that allows both parties to partner together to implement plea bargaining for prisoners throughout the nation. The Prison Project is one of their most ambitious initiatives.

In Loper Bright Enterprises v. Raimondo (decided June 28, 2024) the Supreme Court found that the Court’s 1984 ruling in Chevron U.S.A. Inc v. NRDC violated the Administrative Procedure Act of 1946 (APA) and ultimately the framers’ intent for the U.S. Constitution.

Phillips, recognizing his more than 50 years of impact at Pepperdine University. He is known as the “architect and administrator of the Pepperdine University Caruso School of Law” and served as its founding dean for 27 years.
