Police have made a breakthrough in investigations into the death of Sunshine Coast mother Crystal Beale, whose body was found in the Brisbane River in February. Beale, 49, was last seen in West End about 9.30pm on February 21, following a family dinner at the Sunnybank Hotel earlier that night. Her body was found the next morning near the Brisbane Corso at Yeronga.

Opposition Leader Peter Dutton’s Dickson electorate office has been vandalised, with the words “maggot” and “scum” written in black paint at the Arana Hills shopfront, two weeks out from election day. A Queensland Police spokesman said they were investigating the reports of wilful damage at the office and asked people with CCTV or dashcam that could shed any light on the perpetrators to come forward. Comment has been sought from the Opposition Leader’s office.
