It’s going to stay hot over the next few days, with temperatures possibly reaching up to 110 degrees in some western areas by Monday afternoon. Although humidity will be kept in check, the heat will still be intense, so the Heat Advisory and excessive Heat Warning (Navarro county northward) have both been extended through Monday evening, for now. They could possibly remain through mid-week. The record high for tomorrow is 107 (set in 2011) so we will be on record watch for the afternoon.

The heat’s not letting up anytime soon—expect it to stay hot and dry through the weekend and well into next week as well. This weekend, highs will be between 101 and 104 and the “feels like” temperatures are upwards of 105 t0 110. Our heat advisory has been extended through Sunday evening, at least. We will likely see the advisory extended again into next week as the dangerous heat continues. We expect temperatures to remain over 100 degrees through Thursday. The weekend is here and the weather pattern remains scorching hot even with a front trying to push southward. The front won’t do much to cool us as we still expect to climb to/near the century mark today. You might notice north winds this afternoon because of the front, which could could help lower the humidity a bit. As far as rain chances go with this front sliding in... the front continues southward slowly throughout the day.

To finish off July and head into August, we’re in for hotter and drier weather thanks to high pressure moving in from the west. Before the rain chance shuts off completely for a few days, there is a small glimmer of hope for some light rain today. It’s only for areas southeast on Sunday afternoon (the closer to College Station the higher the chance), but even then, most of us will stay dry today. Any rain that manages to pop up this afternoon should fizzle out after sunset.

Today, the strong area of high-pressure that’s been over the western U.S. bringing extreme and record-breaking heat will shift a bit east into the Plains, bringing the drier and hotter weather closer to us. In Central Texas, temperatures will rise quickly and we will find our afternoon highs into the mid and upper 90s. We do expect to feel hotter with heat indices generally 101-104, but could be as hot as 105 in some spots.
