    ORLANDO, Fla. - Changes to our typical summertime pattern are coming to Central Florida for a few days all thanks to the arrival of a late-season 'cool front' by the weekend. FRIDAY Storms could start developing as early as Friday morning, especially near the I-4 corridor and areas northwest of Orlando. Through the afternoon and evening, expect more storms to fire up in the warm, unstable atmosphere.

    ORLANDO, Fla. - If you hear chatter about a new tropical system named Alvin, there's no need to worry. This system is definitely not heading toward Florida. Tropical Storm Alvin as formed in the eastern Pacific off the coast of Mexico. This makes Alvin the first named storm in the northern hemisphere this year. It's worth noting that this late start to activity in the Pacific is a bit unusual. Meteorologists typically begin tracking developments by early-to-mid May.

    ORLANDO, Fla. - Plan for a stormy end to the week in Central Florida as a weakening cold front draped just north of the region is expected to keep things unsettled through Friday. Thursday brings a "marginal" severe weather risk (Level 1/5) from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Rain chances are forecast to rise to around 70% Thursday, especially after 6 p.m., and could linger in the area until around 11 p.m. Most of this activity is likely to impact inland and eastern counties.

    ORLANDO, Fla. - The 2024 hurricane season brought Florida face-to-face with some of the strongest storms in recent memory, with three Florida landfalling hurricanes: Debby, Helene and Milton. Hurricane Debby kickstarted the active season in early August when it made landfall over the Big Bend as a Category 1 hurricane. While Debby caused minimal damage, it was the first of several challenges for the Gulf Coast. Nearly seven weeks later, the same area braced for another hit.
