ORLANDO, Fla. - The 2024 hurricane season brought Florida face-to-face with some of the strongest storms in recent memory, with three Florida landfalling hurricanes: Debby, Helene and Milton. Hurricane Debby kickstarted the active season in early August when it made landfall over the Big Bend as a Category 1 hurricane. While Debby caused minimal damage, it was the first of several challenges for the Gulf Coast. Nearly seven weeks later, the same area braced for another hit.

ORLANDO, Fla. - Planning to get outdoors for Memorial Day? Expect a classic summer setup across much of Florida, with daytime highs in the low 90s. Don't let the sunshine fool you early in the day. Showers and thunderstorms are likely to develop by the afternoon, most likely west of I-95. Storms may linger until sunset and could produce locally heavy rain, isolated flooding and dangerous lightning. This weather pattern is expected to repeat daily through much of the week.
