Black jockeys once dominated the sport of horse racing. In this week's Ask Caray, WLKY's Caray Grace dives into the history of Black jockeys and their ties to the Kentucky Derby. We rarely see Black jockeys on the backs of horses on Derby Day or really any day at the track, but there was a time that wasn't the case. That begs the question: Has a Black jockey ever won the Kentucky Derby? The answer is yes. Oliver Lewis won Derby in 1875. At that time, Black horsemen dominated the sport.
