On Wednesday, April 16, Kohen Smith, a Junior Member of Millersport American Legion Auxiliary Unit 637, was crowned the new Little Miss Poppy Queen for 2025 by outgoing Poppy Queen Hannah Hampson. Hannah reigned as Poppy Queen for two years and is a Junior Member as well. Kohen is 11 years old and the daughter of Kyle and Megan Smith. Kohen was born at Fort Campbell, Tennessee, where Kyle was a Sergeant in the United States Army. She is the oldest of her three sisters.

The shelter is located at 5056 Beaver Drive at Fairfield Beach, Thornville. All Fairfield Beach, Walnut Township, Fairfield County residents and beyond are encouraged to join in the ceremony and see this shelter, which is one of only four like it in the state of Ohio.

Plans are underway for the 96th annual Millersport High School Alumni Banquet. The banquet is scheduled for 5 p.m. Saturday, May 31. It will be held in the Walnut Township District Auditorium, 11850 Lancaster Street in Millersport. The dinner buffet will include two entrees, sides, salad, desserts and beverages. The cost of the meal is $22 per person. Checks may be made payable to Millersport Alumni Association and mailed to Jim Roshon, 11657 Summerland Beach Road, Millersport, Ohio, 43046.

Kids ages 12 and younger can join in the Easter Egg Hunt beginning at 11 a.m.This year marks the 200th anniversary of the Village of Millersport’s founding by Matthias Miller. The Millersport Lions Club will hold its annual Easter Breakfast and Egg Hunt from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 5 in the Lions Clubhouse, 2905 Chautauqua Boulevard in Millersport. The breakfast menu includes pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage links, sausage gravy, and biscuits. All for a donation of $5.
