Due to her community work, Cindy Johnson Brown of the Washington County School Board has been recognized as an Emerging Leader by the Florida School Boards Association. The distinction is given to school board members who document a minimum of 48 hours of training in leadership, advocacy, and knowledge, a news release said. Brown is a member of the newest class. “I am so excited to recognize Cindy as an Emerging Leader,” FSBA Leadership Services Director Tina Pinkoson said in a prepared statement.

Worley is planning to bring holiday gifts to people at Community Health and Rehabilitation Center, a senior living facility in Panama City, in December and invites the community to donate to the cause. She will hand-deliver the gifts, which will include sponsor names. Socks and candy are included in the donations. “They’ll get some lotion and hand cream,” Worley said.

The donations are part of an annual tradition in which the Quilting Club auctions off a quilt for local donations during the town’s Possum Festival, generally held in August. While the Quilting Club has donated to the library before, this marks the first time they have given to The Arc, longtime Quilting Club member Shirley Walsingham said.
