Recently, I wrote about the WWII Diary kept by Shouppe Howell, who participated in bombing missions over Germany and nearby countries during WWII as a tail gunner on a plane. Here are more entries. Hamm “This is Number 11 and we are on our way to home or heaven.” Nov. 21 1944 “Today’s railroad schedules were really ruined at Hamm when we hollered “Bombs Away.” Today we headed for the railroad yards at Hamm and I’ll bet quite a few trains were late that day.

In 1943 when my husband and his best friend Shouppe Howell graduated from Holmes County High School, there was little to look forward except that as almost 18 year-olds, they knew that they would be drafted into the armed services. As small-town country boys, they had spent many hours with their younger brothers tramping the fields and woods on the outskirts of Bonifay.

The world is nothing but murders, massacres, and the threat of war. It’s gotten so bad, you wake up and ask, “Who died overnight?” Or “Whose rockets and bombs hit who this time?”I’ll go out on a limb here and blame most of the world’s turmoil and tragedy on President Biden and his handlers. Three years into his presidency, Biden has already got us mixed up in two bloody wars, blown our Southern border wide open, brought us 8% inflation, and too much other trouble and pain to list.

In the Real Clear Politics polling average, Pence, at 3.4%, held fifth place but showed no movement. His campaign finances had tightened and his frustrating lack of progress prompted the difficult decision to abandon his candidacy.

Jase GravesAccording to my extensive research (approximately five minutes on Google when I should have been folding underwear), the Chinese zodiac system assigns an animal symbol to each year. It is believed that people born in a given year have the personality of that year’s animal. For example, based on the placemats at my favorite Chinese buffet, I was born in the Year of the Dog, which means I am loyal, honest and difficult to housebreak.
