VICTORIA, Texas - A Victoria man accused of killing his mother has been found competent to stand trial after spending months in a state psychiatric hospital. Trevon Martinez, 21, was declared competent on May 2 by doctors at the state facility where he had been receiving treatment since being found incompetent in September due to mental illness. A bench warrant was issued shortly after the determination to transfer Martinez back to the Victoria County Jail, where he is currently being held.

VICTORIA, Texas - Authorities arrested a Victoria man Tuesday on a bench warrant. Trevon Anthony Martinez, 21, was previously scheduled for a jury trial for a murder charge from July. A jury trial was scheduled for January 8 of this year but was postponed. A bench warrant for Martinez was issued on May 2, the same day the judge received a letter about Martinez from Rusk State Hospital, a psychiatric hospital for adults.

VICTORIA COUNTY, Texas - The murder trial date for a Bloomington man accused of murder has now been reset. Lezahn Jamearl Thomas Norman's trial was originally set for Thursday, May 15 but is now postponed and reset for August 16, with a hearing scheduled for July 10. Norman was arrested in October of last year by deputies on charges of murder. Norman is accused of murdering Nathenial Escobedo on October 19, 2024 in the 9800 block of Lower Mission Valley Road. JACKSON COUNTY, Texas - An Edna man who was accused of murdering his girlfriend received his sentencing Thursday. Ramon Palacios was sentenced to serving 50 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, located in Huntsville. If or when Palacios is released from state custody, he will not be allowed to make contact with the victim's family. Roseann Martinez was found dead on August 9, 2024 by Edna police officers.

Sean Stibich, the executive director of the Port of Victoria confirmed the news Tuesday morning. "Robby was a huge force for the port and for the region," Stibich said.
