RICHMOND, Va. — The Salvation Army has activated its cooling center at 1900 Chamberlayne Avenue in Richmond as temperatures climb above 92 degrees. The center provides water, snacks and shelter to anyone seeking relief from the extreme heat. "We are experiencing really, really hot weather right now, so we provide shelter programs with the two locations or so," Salvation Army Major Commander Christine Kim said.

RICHMOND, Va. — It was in and out for voters Tuesday morning at Mary Munford Elementary School, one of Richmond's largest precincts. "It was so easy," said one Richmond voter. "Took two minutes."The Republican statewide ticket for governor, lieutenant governor and attorney general is already set, so Tuesday’s Democratic primary has seen the most turnout. "Reproductive freedom is just super important and obviously, locally our infrastructure," she noted.

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. — Fire crews battled heavy fire at a home along Upham Drive in Henrico County early Tuesday morning. "Units arrived on location within five minutes, and we found heavy fire throughout the structure, coming through the back side of the roof," said Captain Scott Akens. Just after 4:30 a.m., the single-story home had flames and smoke coming through the roof.

RICHMOND, Va. — A man was shot multiple times in Fairfield Court early Monday morning, according to Richmond Police. Officers found a man with gunshot wounds at the 2500 block of Rosetta Street around 3:45 a.m. He was taken to a hospital and is expected to recover. CBS 6 was on the scene just after 4 a.m. as police canvassed the neighborhood near the intersection of Phaup and Rosetta Streets.
