Unmanned undersea vehicles are going to be tested and used for training by the Navy, off the Ventura Coast. It comes after a report determined there would not be significant environmental impacts from the action. They are known as Extra Large Unmanned Undersea Vehicles, which is basically a drone submarine. It's called an ORCA and made by Boeing. "It's new to the Navy and it's about 85 feet long and it weighs about 175,000 pounds," explains the Navy's Fleet Force Command Greg Thompson.

She was diagnosed with breast cancer in May 2023. Eileen Hongo from Santa Maria was determined to learn all she could about the disease and how to fight it. "Within two and a half weeks, I had a bilateral mastectomy and then I started chemotherapy. So I underwent about 20 rounds of chemotherapy and then after chemo there was a month break and I did 35 rounds of radiation," explains Hongo. "I was very, very ignorant to breast cancer.

The Clean Air Express bus serves residents of Lompoc, Santa Maria, Buellton, Solvang, and adjacent unincorporated areas who commute to jobs in Goleta and Santa Barbara. Now it's expanding its schedule. When Joe Biden was being inaugurated in January 2021, Genessee Semler from Thousand Oaks was in labor with her first child. "That was actually a really hopeful day for the symbolism of it. The fact that we were bringing new life into this world even with the pandemic," said Semler. Their so-called pandemic baby, called Fin, is now going to pre-school, and they welcomed their second daughter Tea nearly 3 years ago. She was born 10 weeks early and spent her first five weeks in the NICU.
