A woman is facing eviction from an IPAS (International Protection Accommodation Services) centre in Waterford and transfer to Donegal, despite setting down roots in the Déise. Matilda came to Ireland in July 2024 from Nigeria, and was granted refugee status in September the same year. In the time since she's been in the Déise, she has been integrating with the local community, studying and preparing to work.

Gardaí are investigating an assault involving male teenagers that took place on Thursday evening, May 8, in the Beech Park area of Tramore. They attended the scene shortly before 7pm. It is understood that a knife-type implement was used during the course of the assault. A male youth, aged in his late teens, sustained an injury during the course of the incident and was taken to University Hospital Waterford for treatment. It is understood that his injuries are not life threatening.

Waterford Council referred repeatedly to lack of funding and staff resources at a recent Council meeting. At the Metro session, multiple Councillors were met with claims of gridlock of funding and resources when discussing their own issues. Councillor Adam Wyse (Fianna Fáil) said: "A number of the issues that Councillors raised here today all seem to fall back on Council being understaffed; we don't have a night-time economy advisor, Dawn (Wallace) mentioned about not having engineers.

A study has been successfully completed on the Designated Maritime Area Plan (DMAP) along the South East coast. Venterra Group, an offshore-wind energy services company, conducted a metocean characterisation study on the DMAP zone. Metocean refers to the combined effect of both meteorology and oceanography within coastal and offshore engineering.
