A charity event involving Cork hurling royalty and Manchester United heroes sharing stories about their illustrious careers raised has raised more than €10,000 for two deserving charities. ‘An Evening With Red Legends’ last Friday gave the people of Cork the chance to hear David May, Lee Martin, and Keith Gillespie share stories about their careers under Alex Ferguson, life as Manchester United players, and their moves to other clubs.

Cillian Murphy and Kneecap are among the nominees across 29 categories for the 2025 Irish Film and Television Academy (IFTA) Awards. Winners will be announced at the 22nd annual IFTA Awards at the Dublin Royal Convention Centre on February 14. Small Things Like These, the book adaptation featuring Cork actor Cillian Murphy received nine nominations, including Murphy’s nomination for Best Actor in the Film category.

The 2 Johnnies have released a third part of the infamous GAA catfish saga. The Tipperary duo originally brought the story of the GAA catfish to the nation’s attention in May 2022, which revealed a serial catfisher was in contact with over 30 men, including podcast host Johnny B O’Brien, known as Johnny B to the 2 Johnnies faithful. A catfish is someone who sets up a fake online profile in order to trick people – usually those looking for love.

As wildfires continue to cause havoc in Los Angeles, among the structures destroyed are the homes of famous celebrities, with several production recordings being halted due to the flames. The fire in Eaton near Pasadena that started on Tuesday night has burned more than 5,000 structures, including homes, apartment buildings, businesses, outbuildings and vehicles. To the west in Pacific Palisades, the largest of the fires burning in the LA area, has destroyed more than 5,300 structures.
