A man was sentenced to 25 years to life in state prison for the first-degree premeditated murder of 18-year-old Andrea Cervantes Alejandre, the office of San Joaquin County District Attorney Ron Freitas announced on Monday. Antonio Flores-Cuellar entered a no-contest plea before being sentenced by Judge Northup on April 10, prosecutors said. Tracy police discovered Alejandre’s body on June 22, 2019, at an apartment on Carlton Way with an 8-inch fixed-blade knife in her neck, officials noted.

A Stockton man was arrested Thursday in connection with the kidnapping and sexual assault of a 13-year-old girl, police said. Police have identified the suspect as 41-year-old Dennis Lee. Officers began investigating after the girl was reported missing Tuesday, police said. Shortly after, a sexual assault was reported. Investigators later determined the two incidents were related.

Stockton Councilmember Brando Villapudua was unanimously censured Tuesday for making an obscene hand gesture from the dais at an audience member during a January council meeting. In a 6-0 vote, Villapudua’s fellow councilmembers unanimously agreed that by making the gesture he violated council rules regarding conduct and decorum. As the subject of the censure proceedings, Villapudua was not permitted to participate in the vote.

A multi-car crash at the corner of Harding Way and Wilson Way in Stockton prompted a major emergency response and snarled traffic on Monday evening.
