A Kent artist’s plans for a controversial seaside home in Dungeness have been granted planning permission. Cartoonist Mr Doodle, whose real name is Sam Cox, intends to replace a beach cottage into three-bedroom holiday home featuring railway carriages and laser-cut doodles on the exterior. The plans were approved on March 18 by the Folkestone & Hythe District Council's planning committee, with nine councillors voting in favour and three against.

A former hotel in Folkestone is set to be transformed into emergency and supported housing for people experiencing homelessness, after being given the green light by Folkestone & Hythe District Council. The Rainbow Centre, a local charity that supports vulnerable people, has been given the go-ahead to repurpose the Hamlet Hotel on Shakespeare Terrace, which has been vacant for two years.

British Transport Police are investigating a series of harassment incidents at Dover Priory railway station and have released an image of a man they wish to identify. According to police, a man visited the station on three separate evenings – Thursday, January 16, Saturday, January 18, and Friday, February 7 – where he repeatedly harassed and threatened a staff member with violence. Investigators believe the man in the image may have information to assist their inquiry.

The future of key Folkestone projects, including access to the popular Harbour Arm and funding for the historic Leas Lift, has been put into 'jeopardy' after the rejection of controversial plans from multimillionaire Sir Roger De Haan. The Folkestone Harbour & Seafront Development Company (FHSDC), led by Sir De Haan, saw its plans for 410 new homes refused by Folkestone & Hythe District Council despite the recommendation of its own planning officers.

The Theatres Trust, a national charity dedicated to preserving UK theatres, has flagged Dover’s Roundhouse Theatre as being “at risk”. The trust, which publishes an annual Theatres at Risk Register, highlighted the Roundhouse alongside 42 other historic venues under threat of closure, redevelopment, or neglect. The list, which is now in its 19th year, identifies theatres of architectural or cultural importance that could still be revived with proper investment.
