A mother has received a court order after being issued 18 fines for driving in a restricted zone despite being exempt. Marlene Nwaokolo, from Lordswood, has a disability exemption for the Bleakwood Road school street scheme in Walderslade where her daughter attends. The 42-year-old was using a courtesy car after being involved in a crash and had contacted Medway Council to ask them to apply her exemption to the new car between November 30 and December 6.

One area of Kent has been named as having one of the slowest housing markets in England and Wales. With properties staying on the market for 20 days longer than average, homes could be moving slowly for a number of reasons. On average it took 56 days for a home in Canterbury to sell during the first few months of 2025. According to one of the UK’s leading property websites, Zoopla, this is the longest waiting time of any area in the South East and the seventh longest in the country.

CCTV has been released by police following the theft of mobile phones prised from display stands at a shop in Tunbridge Wells. It was reported the devices were stolen after a man entered an EE store in Calverley Road, at around 2.15pm on Monday, April 21. The suspect is alleged to have made threats to staff as he used a metal tool to break two phones from separate displays. He then fled on foot in the direction of Camden Road and Garden Street, according to Kent Police.

A local community group has created an all-weather path along a portion of the Sheppey Light Railway line. The Sheppey Light Railway Greenway is an ambitious project to open a walking, wheeling and cycling greenway following the path of the former railway line that ran from Leysdown to Queenborough. It has received support from Swale Borough Council.
