    A former Kent Wilko branch will see life once again as new owners have been found for the spacious unit. At the end of 2023 the high street staple collapsed into administration, resulting in the closure of all 400 of its branches across the UK. By October, Kent had seen all 13 of its Wilko stores close including the Folkestone branch in Sandgate Road. Having now stood vacant in the town centre for more than a year, the site is set to be revived as an indoor market.

    A woman was arrested after more than £20,000 worth of jewellery and valuables were stolen from a gym locker. The items were reported stolen on Thursday, April 10 at around 8pm. They had been taken from a locker in the women’s changing room at the Wincheap PureGym in Canterbury. The items included a diamond encrusted watch, silver and gold rings, and an electronic tablet. Officers from Kent Police carried out CCTV investigations to identify the suspect.

    Bosses at a popular coastal shopping centre have confirmed what the future holds for its vacant Wilko unit which has sat empty for more than a year. After the national chain collapsed into administration at the end of 2023, all 13 of Wilko’s stores in Kent were shut by October that year. This included the spacious store at Westwood Cross Shopping Centre in Broadstairs.
