VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A Virginia Beach police officer is facing charges after being arrested over the weekend in connection with a crash. According to the Virginia Beach Police Department, officers responded to the 2300 block of Huckleberry Trail around 3:48 a.m. on Saturday, June 1. Following a preliminary investigation at the scene, 42-year-old James Rasmussen of Virginia Beach was arrested and charged with driving under the influence.

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Two vehicle crashes are causing traffic delays at the Monitor-Merrimac Memorial Bridge-Tunnel Monday morning, according to Virginia State Police (VSP). A three-vehicle crash and a separate two-vehicle crash were reported to VSP in the southbound lanes of Interstate 664, a police spokesperson said. The crash appears to be inside the tunnel, per traffic cameras on the Virginia Department of Transportation website.

NORFOLK, Va. — The countdown has begun for Sail250® Virginia, a major international maritime and military event coming to Norfolk and the greater Chesapeake Bay region in 2026. At a press conference Friday aboard the American Rover Tall Ship in downtown Norfolk, Governor Glenn Youngkin, Mayor Kenny Alexander and event organizers announced that more than 60 tall ships, military vessels, and historic character ships from 20 countries will sail into Virginia’s harbors next June.
