    FOLLOWING the opening of School Year 2025–2026, Senator Sherwin Gatchalian is calling for sustained support for teachers amid the rollout of basic education reforms. One of these reforms is the Strengthened Senior High School Program, which will be piloted in 800 schools this school year.     EDUCATION Secretary Sonny Angara announced that the Department of Education is studying the possibility of providing overtime pay for teachers. Angara, however, noted that current law permits teachers to teach only up to six hours per day.
