INTRODUCTION The wound microenvironment refers to the complex biological and biochemical environment within the wound, including cells, extracellular matrix, microbiota and wound pH (Wang, Qi, et al., 2022). Once the wound microenvironment is imbalanced, the wound is susceptible to bacterial infection, significantly hindering the healing process (Dhall et al., 2019; Mo et al., 2023).

We performed a retrospective analysis of 42 adult patients with HNRMS (> 16 years of age). The patients underwent radiation therapy at our institute between June 2008 and June 2022. Pertinent patient data, including baseline characteristics, staging, histologic type, surgical margin, mode of therapy, and outcomes, were analysed. We retrospectively restaged patients using the IRSG staging system and the American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) Staging System for head and neck STS (8th ed, 2017).

INTRODUCTION The atmospheric concentration of the strong greenhouse gas methane (CH4) is increasing, contributing significantly to global warming (Schaefer et al., 2016). Major sources of methane (both natural and anthropogenic) include wetlands, cattle, paddy fields and landfills (Dean et al., 2018; Houghton et al., 2019). In addition, dozens of teragrams of methane are annually released from geological sources in terrestrial and marine geothermal environments (Etiope, 2009).
