    Don't diss Jesus in the land of cheese and vinegar. Andrea Saltini's controversial painting of Christ's body being sexually violated was vandalized March 28 in a deconsecrated church outside the great food city of Modena. The artist, who also paints still life portraits of canned sardines, was attacked and hospitalized when he intervened. The exhibition of the painting has sparked a petition for its closure signed by 30,000. Keep your eye on the ball?

    Morel mushrooms are making news for the wrong reasons. Iowa's favorite fungus killed a couple people and made at least 52 others sick — none in Iowa. Investigations by CDC blamed "false morels" and people who ate real morels raw. Don't do that. As for washing them, which is advised by the CDC, Washington Post discovered that 10 seconds (of soaking) is the magic number to dislodge dirt, sand and bugs before the mushroom absorbs too much water to slough off with longer cooking. How many is too many?
