GRAND RAPIDS, MI – A Grand Rapids artist has made it his mission to uplift and support the LGBTQ+ community through clothing apparel and other products sold at his retail store. Bailey Sell, the owner and founder of Transfigure Print Co., says the LGBTQ+ inclusive screen-printing collective, is more than a business. A percentage of the unique, inclusive and empowering merchandise raises money for LGBTQ+ individuals and organizations. The new trans-owned store, at 2221 Plainfield Ave.

GRAND RAPIDS, MI-- The largest winter festival in the U.S. kicked off for the sixth year in downtown Saturday evening. Festivalgoers packed into 555 Monroe Ave. NW along the Grand River to celebrate the start of World of Winter. DJ Adrian Butler got the crowd rocking as others warmed up by fire pits. Others watched as Ice Guru Events did a live ice carving of the Grand Rapids skyline.

GRAND RAPIDS, MI – As families travel to visit relatives and friends this holiday season, the Grand Rapids African American Museum and Archives (GRAAMA) hosted its annual Kwanzaa celebration in Grand Rapids on Saturday, Dec. 28. The museum hosted activities for kids, including author readings, cookie decorating, button making and more, followed by a formal Kwanzaa ceremony.

GRAND RAPIDS, MI – The South Christian Sailors and Hudsonville Eagles went head-to-head in Cornerstone University’s Holiday Classic girls basketball tournament at the Bernice Hansen Athletic Center in Grand Rapids on Saturday, Dec. 28. The top scorer for the Hudsonville Eagles was senior Josie Desmit (5) with 14 points in total, followed by junior Ryan Vanderbeek (20) with 10 points.

MUSKEGON, MI – The Coopersville Broncos and Whitehall Vikings went head-to-head in the Muskegon Area Sports Hall of Fame Holiday Classic basketball tournament at Muskegon High School on Friday, Dec. 27. Whitehall senior Camden Thompson (23) scored the most points for the Vikings totaling 21. Followed by Whitehall senior Kal Koehler (14) with 18 points and Whitehall senior Brock Morningstar (24) with 9 points.
