LAPEER, MI — It’s the cookie taking the internet by storm. Kookys N Cream, located at 374 W. Nepessing St., continues to crack the code taking viral trends and turning them into sweets that, in turn, again go viral. This time, the downtown Lapeer bakery sold out of its newest innovation — the Dubai chocolate cookie. The Dubai chocolate cookie is a chocolate fudge cookie stuffed with a pistachio and tahini cream that has a bunch of Middle Eastern phyllo dough (kadaif) baked inside of it.

GRAND BLANC TWP., MI — With a theme of “Once Upon a Dream,” more than 140 attendees danced the night away on Friday, May 9 at the Captain’s Club at Woodfield in Grand Blanc Township. Prom-goers were dressed to the nines. Sharp suits. Gorgeous dresses. And accessories that are simply a must-see. Before the prom itself, many prom-goers stopped in Lions City Park in Montrose to take photos together.

FLINT, MI — New Standard Academy and Madison Academy enjoyed a combined junior/senior prom at the Flint Farmers Market on Friday, May 9. With a theme of “Arabian Nights,” more than 50 attendees danced the night away, but not before wowing the crowd on the red carpet. Parents, family and friends lined up awaiting the arrival of each Madison and New Standard Academy prom-goer before they strutted down the red carpet.

JACKSON, MI -- The Jackson County Animal Shelter, 3770 Spring Arbor Road, has many pets available for adoption. Here are two of them. Calla is a 4-year-old American Staffordshire mix who is solid black with some white on her chest. She is a medium-sized dog at 48 pounds. Calla is not a barker or jumper. Upon meeting she can be shy and a bit nervous, but once she sees that you are friendly she becomes a tail wagger. Calla likes to play outside and gets the happy zoomies.
