SALISBURY, MD.- The Salisbury Fire Department is mourning the loss of one of its own. The Department announced via its Facebook page the passing of Lieutenant Bryan Lewis. The Department says Lewis' service as a Firefighter/Paramedic, his time spent in Maintenance and Supply, and most recently his time a s Lieutenant on Truck 2 have significantly impacted the City of Salisbury and Wicomico County.

DOVER, Del.-The Dover Police Department is investigating a robbery that took place at the Verizon location on North Dupont Highway Monday night. Officers say they got the robbery report around 6:30 p.m. The area was checked, however police say they could not locate the suspects. Investigators say that two black men came into the store wearing dark clothes and masks. One was armed with pepper spray and a taser, according to police. The men demanded an employee turn over store property.

Maryland Governor Wes Moore on Monday announced two major investments to improve access to abortion care statewide. In addition to the Moore-Miller Administration's FY 2025 $5 million allocation to increase Medicaid provider reimbursement for abortion care and reproductive services, the Maryland Department of Health has awarded a $10.6 million grant to the University of Maryland, Baltimore, to administer Maryland’s Abortion Care Clinical Training Program.

SALISBURY, Md.-The City of Salisbury has announced that on Monday, Feb. 12, a portion of Circle Avenue beside Unity Square will be closed to through traffic for sidewalk repairs. Camden Avenue will be closed, from Division Street to the entrance to the Plaza Gateway Building, to pour new sidewalks. The closure will begin in the early morning hours and will last all day.

The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) and its partners announcing it has collected 91,810 bags of trash in 2023 in the ongoing effort to Keep DE Litter Free. The work was performed by DelDOT Maintenance & Operations employees, DART, Adopt-A-Highway/Sponsor-A-Highway efforts, the Work A Day Earn A Pay Program, and with help from the Delaware Department of the Corrections’ (DOC) inmate work program.

GEORGETOWN, Del.-A Lincoln, Delaware woman is facing DUI and drug charges after a crash investigation Wednesday morning in Georgetown. Delaware State Police say just after 7 a.m., a trooper responded to the area of Gravel Hill Road and Johnson Road for a non-injury crash involving a black Ford van and a white BMW. The trooper contacted the driver of the BMW, identified as Maria Flores. The trooper reported observing signs of impairment and conducted Standardized Field Sobriety Tests on Flores.

DOVER, Del.- A new display in Kent County shines a spotlight on eighty-nine State of Delaware Historical Markers related to Black History. The Delaware Public Archives in Dover has unveiled a new exhibition in its lobby, “Celebrating African American History in The First State” that features every State of Delaware Historical Marker related to Black history and the significance behind them.

The Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is now accepting applications for invasive fish control grants of up to $5,000. This grant program seeks to support effective ways to remove invasive fish, particularly blue catfish and Northern snakeheads, from Maryland waters and identify sustained beneficial uses of caught fish. The application deadline is April 15, 2024, and awards will be announced in early May.

DOVER, Del.-Delaware State Police are investigating a reported armed home invasion that happened Sunday night in Dover. Around 11 p.m., troopers responded to a home on Vanessa Drive for a home invasion robbery. Investigators say two suspects forced themselves into the home that was reportedly occupied by three adults and four children. The suspects confronted the victims and demanded money while one of the suspects displayed a firearm, according to police.
