LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - A former Lubbock County Detention Center officer pleaded guilty Tuesday to attempting to buy a controlled substance. Taylor Millett was arrested in September of 2022 after she was caught buying fentanyl from an undercover officer with intent to distribute it to inmates inside the jail. Attempted possession of a controlled substance is a state jail felony. A judge sentenced Millett to time served, the same amount of time she spent in jail awaiting her guilty plea.

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - A Lubbock man has died after falling off the flatbed of a truck in Garza County Monday afternoon. At 2:30 p.m., troopers responded to a crash on State Highway 207 and CR 120. Crash investigators say 45-year-old Joshua Mendoza was riding on a pickup truck’s flatbed while removing traffic control equipment when he fell off. Mendoza died from his injuries at the scene of the crash. 41-year-old Jose Botelo, who was also riding on the flatbed of the truck, was not injured.

GAINES COUNTY, Texas (KCBD) - A 13-year-old boy from Hobbs was killed and four others seriously hurt after a crash in Gaines County Friday afternoon. Around 3:15 p.m., troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash near the intersection of CR 208 and CR 225. Crash investigators say a passenger car, driven by 38-year-old Mario Antonio Tornez-Gutierrez, of Hobbs, was traveling east on CR 208 when he ran a stop sign at the intersection.
