LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD/Gray News) - A toddler in Texas is awaiting a life-saving organ transplant. Arden York has been battling a rare liver condition since he was born. Arden’s parents said they have known he would need a liver transplant since the first few days after he was born, but in February a health scare made his case even more urgent.

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - A major change is coming to battery packaging, thanks to the persistence of one Lubbock mom. You may remember Reese Hamsmith, the Lubbock toddler who died after she ingested a button battery back in 2020. Although Reese’s story hits close to home for us here in Lubbock, she is just one out of over 70 kids who have died after ingesting a button battery, according to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission.

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - The City of Ransom Canyon is now embarking on efforts to enhance its parks and its water infrastructure. KCBD spoke to Jana Trew, the Mayor of Ransom Canyon who says these improvements will benefit not only the residents in the tight-knit community, but visitors as well. “It is a very beautiful area, so we are excited to be able to provide these new services,” Trew said.

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - It is a historic time for Frenship ISD. On Thursday, the district unveiled the mascot and school colors for its new Memorial High School, as voted on by students. The Frenship ISD school board revealed Memorial High School’s mascot will be the Panthers. It’s the first school in district history that won’t be the Tigers.
