My husband and I have seen our price of living go up a lot lately, but our credit cards have helped. Credit cards can have a bad reputation, but by using them responsibly, we've benefited. I have a business credit card and a card that helps me earn more on travel purchases. Life has gotten so incredibly expensive lately, am I right? In the past few months alone, my husband and I have had quite a few surprise expenses on the home front. Our mortgage went up almost $300 because of property taxes.

Mortgage rates are expected to drop, which means that it might be a good time to buy a second home. I would love to offset rising costs by being able to use my primary home as a short-term rental. There's no perfect time to buy a home, so I'm more concerned with whether it feels like a good time. For years now, my sister and I have been contemplating going in together on a lake home that would serve a triple purpose.
