Pediatric respiratory syncytial virus (RSV)-related acute lower respiratory tract infection (LRTI) commonly requires hospitalization. The Clinical Progression Scale Pediatrics (CPS-Ped) measures level of respiratory support and degree of hypoxia across a range of disease severity, but it has not been applied in infants hospitalized with severe RSV-LRTI.

The UNMC Department of Pediatrics has added two new division chiefs. Salaheddin Elrokhsi, MD, became division chief of pediatric endocrinology at UNMC and Children’s Nebraska in July, while Melissa Muff-Luett, MD, became division chief of pediatric nephrology at UNMC and Children’s Nebraska in August. Dr. Elrokhsi completed his medical education at the University of Tripoli Faculty of Medicine in Tripoli, Libya.
