ABSTRACTTo understand whether sperm can penetrate maturing metaphase I (MI) oocytes and evaluate the developmental competency following conventional in vitro fertilization (IVF) in a mouse model. ICR mice were used in this study. The metaphase II (MII)-COCs harvested at 15h after the hCG injection was used for IVF as a control (Group 1). In the treatment group (Group 2), the maturing MI-COCs harvested at 7h after the hCG injection were used for IVF.
